For San Diego born-and-bred R&B singer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Geminelle, music and healing are one and the same.

“I hope my music creates a space for others to be able to look at themselves with compassion and deep acceptance,” she shares. “I want people to feel comfortable with where they’re at in their journey.”

This purposeful exchange is central to Geminelle’s own journey as an artist. Though she started making music at age 13, her nationwide ’14 Follow the Music tour allowed her to realize just how far her craft could take her. “That set things off for me,” she says. That same year would find Geminelle leaving her native California home to move to New York, where she became part of the Black contemporary artists collective, Tunnel Vision Creative Agency; released her ’16 debut Audiobook LP; and joined the female and non-binary-led activism group, Resistance Revival Chorus. These creative communities opened new doors for Geminelle, from sharing a stage with Kesha at the Grammys and Jim James on Fallon; to working with Tiffany Gouché and Valerie June on the Resistance Revival Chorus Album, This Joy; and performing at SXSW, The Roots Picnic, and TEDWomen. Her time in New York expanded her creative network and illuminated her personal path to holistic healing through music.

When Geminelle returned to San Diego in ’19, she delved deeper into the artist community back home and her wellness-focused Mantra Loops series. In what she describes as her “most successful and straightforward project yet”, the Mantra Loops album and ongoing virtual meditation series elevates the universal teachings and affirmations that have always been embedded in Geminelle’s music. “This is specifically designed for us to heal and to grow,” she says of Mantra Loops. Incorporating a loop pedal, guitar, ukulele, and sound healing techniques, the project also gives audiences a glimpse into Geminelle’s multidimensional live performance.

With Mantra Loops Volume 2 in the works, as well as collaborations with TED, GirlTrek, Toni Jones & Lizzy Jeff, Geminelle continues to spread light through music and through the curation of wellness-centered spaces through her and her husband’s co-founded company, Arise Wellness. “I’ve always wanted to be a voice for the people,” she shares, “to be that voice that could help people articulate what they are experiencing.” Within every aspect of her craft, Geminelle carries this mission forth, treating her music as a powerful healing tool for herself, her city, and all corners of her global community.
